An artist dedicated to political theatre, Chilian Sebastián Squella will develop the project «Beyond Democracy», where he intends to create a work that reflects on the concept of democracy, a democracy that is suffering violent crises worldwide, the so-called “crisis of representation”. Collaborating with the Swiss performing arts scene, Sebastián proposes to portray, in a play, what happens in a society where the constitutive power of the citizens and the mandate given to the government is not enough for a full life.
Sebastián Squella [CL] is an actor and theatre director, graduated from Arcis University. He is a professor in the acting school of the University of Valparaiso and has previously worked as Assistant Professor of the acting chair of Marco Layera. He is a director at the theatre company Perro Muerto, collaborating with the Entepola Festival, the oldest festival in Chile. He teaches at the ELATEP popular theatre school and gives acting classes at the University of Valparaíso. For the last 12 years, he has been performing theatre workshops in the Colina 1 Penitentiary Center in the company Fénix e Ilusiones.
