About CAPACETE Entertainments

CAPACETE Entertainments is a non-profit autonomous initiative for cross-disciplinary investigation, production and public debate, designed to promote a diverse range of initiatives, most of which were specifically related to Brazil and the Latin American context. Based in Rio de Janeiro since 1998, as well in São Paulo from 2009 to 2016, CAPACETE has networked with diverse actors and initiatives of local, national and international political-socio-cultural life, with the perspective of developing medium to long-term collaborations. CAPACETE is an annual programme in Rio de Janeiro dedicated to the practice and research in the field of arts and critical thinking, which receives 10-15 participants a year. The first edition started in March 2015.

A collaboration between CAPACETE Entertainments residency program in Rio de Janeiro and COINCIDENCIA will take place during the whole duration of the program, from 2018 to 2020.

The first edition of this partnership started in July 2018 for which candidates were appointed by art professionals based in Switzerland such as curator Chus Martinez, Elfi Turpin, Sophie Nys, Christoph Draeger and Bruno Serralongue. A series of projects were analyzed and candidates interviewed for the development of a residency that intends to build a pertinent exchange between the Swiss art scene in Brazil and South America. The residency is dedicated to the practice and research in the field of arts and critical thinking and is open for the development of projects proposed by the participants. Final candidates invited for 2018 edition were Tenzing Barshee and Ramaya Tegegne. The open call for 2019 is ongoing until 30th of September, 2018.
