With the support of Pro Helvetia and the ART for the World Project, between April and July of 2018, Sesc Consolação exhibited the expansive and multifaceted work of Augustin Rebetez. A young Swiss artist whose production has emerged from the contemporary scene as a powerful bridge between the subconscious and the reality, the technological present, and the ritualistic past.

Impressed by the capacity SESC units have to catalyze different audiences, Augustin organized the idyllic exhibition « Estremecer Auroras », allowing his existence to resonate in the unit’s spaces through paintings, photographs, videos, animations, and sculptures. For this exhibition, an unprecedented site-specific was created, specially designed for the unit’s social space. In this work, Augustin was inspired by the graffiti and murals of São Paulo, which, spread out, make the city an immense open-air museum.

Populated with characters, chimeras, and funny machines, his production emerges as part of his fantastic imagination. In it, as an alchemist, Augustin mixes dreams and nightmares, light and dark, transforming banal reality into poetic fictions.

Curated by Adelina Von Fürstenberg, one of the pioneers responsible for expanding the paths of contemporary art, the exhibition received more than 18 thousand people. Among scheduled and spontaneous audiences, the project was supported by a rich and diverse group of art-educators, who collaborated to deepen the audience through guided visits and proposals for ateliers.
