Curator and cultural manager Rodolfo Andaur has developed this platform taking into consideration the complexities of the boundaries of centre and north Chile, the diversity of the Atacama desert and the dissimilar platforms surrounding visual art production outside Santiago.
One of the main objectives of this event was to delve into the historical, ethnographic and political plots in some cities and towns within the national territory. In the face of such preliminary introspection, the places visited become capsules which foster research and the development of countless reflective actions, which, in most cases, are focused on visual arts. This event justified its role as a driver of ideas, boosting local scenes, which will undoubtedly result in the creation of new projects.
The 2018 edition was attended by curators, researchers and visual artists from Switzerland, Germany, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Spain, France, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom. The Swiss artists and curators supported by COINCIDENCIA were: Séverin Guelpa, Sandino Scheidegger, Roxane Bovet and Yoan Mudry.
This event is a space to talk and debate about the contrasts arising in our geography, its territorial scope and how, from such analyses, we can build up parallels with other contexts as far as Switzerland, Indonesia or Australia.
«Managing new displacements from geography» is organised by Fundación Crear, supported by COINCIDENCIA – Swiss and South American cultural exchanges (Pro Helvetia), the Goethe Institut, the Spanish Cultural Centre, the British Council, the Chilean-French Culture Institute, the Faculty of Liberal Arts of the Adolfo Ibáñez Antenna, Rotunda Magazine, and Tajamar Foundation, amongst others.
