Dates
13 July to 20 July 2019

Location
Avignon, France

Launched jointly by the Festival d’Avignon and Pro Helvetia in 2013, the «Séminaire en Avignon» offers up-and-coming young stage practitioners a platform for in-depth exchange in both theoretical and practical fields. Young artists from several countries are selected and given the possibility of participating in an intensive week of discoveries in connection with the contemporary artistic expression at the festival in Avignon.

The programme enables participants – accompanied by a coach – to watch and discuss a wide variety of performances, to meet professional theatre practitioners, and to take part in debates with artists, critics and specialists of the performing arts who are attending the festival.

In 2019, COINCIDENCIA supported the participation of the Brazilian Pedro Kosovski in the seminar. Kosovski watched 16 performances and exchanged perspectives with 11 other artists from different parts of the world who were also selected for the programme. This year, the encounter was mediated by Eva-Maria Bertschy, the Swiss dramaturge who collaborates with the theatre director Milo Rau at NTGent in Belgium.

Pedro Kosovski (1983) is a playwright from Rio de Janeiro. He holds a Master in Psychology from PUC-Rio University, where he is currently a postgraduate professor in Jungian psychology, Art and Imaginary. In 2005, he founded the «Aquela Cia de Teatro» – a center based in Rio de Janeiro for theatre creation and research, focused on exploring the intersection between theatre, literature and music.
