TEMPO Festival

Art, philosophy, music and expression form the essence of the first «Studio Cabaret Voltaire» takeover of the Oi Futuro Cultural Centre for the 9th edition of TEMPO_FESTIVAL, sponsored by Oi. The project is inspired by the famous Cabaret Voltaire, a Swiss cultural heritage gem created in 1916 by Hugo Ball, the epicentre of Dadaism in Zurich, and of Futurism – which expanded the concept of art.

The project occupied spaces (the theatre, cafeteria and lobby) to create an immersive environment for artists, actors, performers and filmmakers, following the idea of collaboration between the various artistic languages that these movements promoted and offered the public the opportunity to immerse themselves in this collaborative universe based on experimentation. Three Swiss participants have been invited in partnership with the «COINCIDENCIA» programme: Adrian Notz (director of Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich), Janiv Oron (a performer based in Basel) and Gregory Hari (an artist based in Zurich).

TEMPO_FESTIVAL is Rio de Janeiro’s International Performing Arts Festival, founded in 2009. For each edition, curators Bia Junqueira, Cesar Augusto and Márcia Dias invest «creation time» in national and international processes, residences and co-productions, supporting artistic development in all its stages: from thought to production.
